Get involved

We have 54 large community allotments at the garden but you don’t have to be a plot holder to be involved.

There are weekly opportunities to come together with the community to make a difference in developing our project.

We meet twice weekly to work together on projects ranching from working in our poly tunnels to woodland management, from creating new wild flower meadows to planting community orchards. If you would like to get your school, community group, club/society or maybe even your employer to get involved give us a shout.Young mr walls

You can also get involved through our GIY (Grow it Yourself) group for West Belfast. All details will be updated on the website and can be found here. Through GIY West Belfast we come together to inspire and support each others growing skills and knowledge.

Further training is also available through Groundwork N.I.

  1. Great looking site Mick, I can see why you would have been up all night, in fact all week setting it up, good work. See you up at the plot once the snow and ice go. All the best Henry

  2. Hey Mick! Place looks great and I love your use of permie principles. Have you thought about getting a forest school up and running as part of the project? I know you have some great woodland around colin glen. I’ll be doing my forest school training next year and would love to get involved 🙂 Lucy

    • Hi Lucy,

Great to hear from you and thanks for taking the time to read an comment on Greenshoots.

Yes at Groundwork NI we have delivered quite a lot of forest schools programmes. I love it as a concept and definitely we’d be delighted for you to get involved.

I’ve sent you an email with my full contact details.

      Have a great Christmas,
      Thanks, Mick
